1. Giro d'Italia 2019 route launched in Milan (+ stage by stage video)

2. British Cycling launches new membership category for commuters

British Cycling has launched a new membership package targeted specifically at people who commute by bike, in response to what the organisation says is an increasing diversification in its membership base as it heads towards the 150,000 mark.

3. Geraint Thomas reveals Team Sky Tour de France tensions

Geraint Thomas has lifted the lid on tensions within Team Sky during this year’s Tour de France, when he became the first Welshman – and the third rider from the British UCI outfit to win the race.

4. Klimat, an app that gives you weather in your Strava newsfeed

5. Survey: Dangerous roads deter one in four from commuting by bike

Research from sports goods retailer Decathlon has confirmed what we have seen before in any number of surveys – that the perception that the UK’s roads are too dangerous to cycle on deters many from getting in the saddle for their commute. The research found that just 7 per cent of respondents cycle to work, with 26 per cent saying that they feel the roads are too dangerous to commute on by bicycle.

7. Sports Direct buys Evans Cycles out of administration, will close half of its stores

Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct International plc has bought Evans Cycles after the chain went into administration today, but says that it will have to shut around half its 62 stores, with the potential loss of hundreds of jobs.

8. Fresh police warning to Bristol bus company after another close pass caught on camera by cyclist

Police have issued a fresh warning to Bristol’s main bus operator after a second video emerged of one of its drivers making a close pass on a cyclist earlier this month.

9. Pedal Me hit £150,000 Crowdcube investment target - on day of launch party for crowdfunding drive

Cargo bike taxi and delivery service has smashed its Crowdcube target of £150,000 – just hours before holding a party to celebrate the launch of its campaign on the crowdfunded investment platform at London’s Look Mum No Hands this evening.

10. Video: Melbourne driver swerves into cyclist and rams him off the road

This is just shocking... footage emerged of the moment the driver of a 4x4 vehicle swerved into a cyclist, knocking him off his bike and onto a grass verge. The incident, caught on the dashcam of a following car, happened last November on Inkerman Street and has been shared widely, including on the Facebook page of the Australian Cycle Alliance.

Arriving at road.cc in 2017 via 220 Triathlon Magazine, Jack dipped his toe in most jobs on the site and over at eBikeTips before being named the new editor of road.cc in 2020, much to his surprise. His cycling life began during his students days, when he cobbled together a few hundred quid off the back of a hard winter selling hats (long story) and bought his first road bike - a Trek 1.1 that was quickly relegated to winter steed, before it was sadly pinched a few years later. Creatively replacing it with a Trek 1.2, Jack mostly rides this bike around local cycle paths nowadays, but when he wants to get the racer out and be competitive his preferred events are time trials, sportives, triathlons and pogo sticking - the latter being another long story.
