WADA confirms it has filed appeal with CAS in Alberto Contador case

Appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport will run alongside that of UCI

WADA, the World Anti-doping Agency, has confirmed that it is to appeal the decision of the Spanish national cycling federation, the RFEC, to exonerate Tour de France champion Alberto Contador following his positive test for clenbuterol during last year’s race.

The appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport will be conducted as a separate process to that announced last week by world cycling’s governing body, the UCI, that it would appeal the decision, although it is likely that the two organisations will share resources in putting their cases together.

In a statement, WADA said that in line with its policy, it would “refrain from commenting further in order to protect the integrity of the process.”

Meanwhile it has emerged that contrary to a report in French newspaper L’Equipe last week, the possible presence of plasticizers that could provide evidence of an illegal blood transfusion will not form part of the UCI’s argument in its own appeal.

Acting as separate org.s will only work IF they have separate hearings !
Now that both have announced , CAN WE HAVE an EARLY HEARING in the interests of the other racers ?

Not looking forward to seeing a result in the Giro OR the TDF which is perhaps overturned IF Contador is suspended !

Each racer dreams of Victory on the Grand Tours and part of that dream is standing on the podium . Too many recent victories have been "By the way , we decided to move you up one step on the podium"!

Caisse racers missed out in Paris because of Flandhole and ASO would like to have given Riis shortshift but could not stomach passing the title to Virenque .

Who pays the Lawyers anyway ? The racers pay to UCI and so they are entitled to be treated fairly and "Justice delayed is Justice denied !"

Past several years i have not turned up in Paris simply because there is no point seeing a "Victory ceremony that is about to be a FARCE !"

OH by the way , should the discision be Suspension then 4 years please not a "slap on the wrist "waffle !!

Interesting to read on Velonation that Movistar are interested in signing/resigning both The Accountant and Valverde - did Operación Puerto not happen?
