Cyclists in the Lancaster area who fancy a spot of creative film-making are being asked to submit short pieces for a competition.
“Cycling Shorts” is being hosted by Lancaster City Council and the local Dukes Theatre and films about all aspects of cycling, from road racing to BMX and commuting, are welcome.
According to the organisers, films should depict cycling in the Lancaster District but those showing Lancashire and/or Cumbria are allowed.
There are three categories: under-16, over-16 and one-minute mobile phone films. Entries should be sent on a DVD or CD in the following formats - wma, mpeg, mpg, 3gp, avi, mov and mp4 to:
Celebrating Cycling
Morecambe Town Hall
Marine Road, Morecambe
LA4 5AF.
Please make sure you include your full contact details.
Alternatively you can upload your film to youtube.com. Once you have uploaded your film go to www.youtube.com/group/cyclingshorts - choose ‘Join this Group’ and then choose ‘Add Videos’.
Once you have done this please send an email to celebratingcycling [at] lancaster.gov.uk (please do not send files to this address) or call 01524 582392/582616.
• Films should not be more than 3 minutes in length (1 minute for mobile phone films).
• You should keep your original as we may need this for the gallery screening.
• Films should not contain any swearing, indecent images or scenes of violence.
• Films should not contain commercial or copyrighted music and/or content.
The closing date is Friday September 18th and prizes will be awarded to the winning films in each of the three categories. Selecting films will be shown at the Dukes Theatre in October.
