Raleigh has revamped its Mustang adventure bike for 2018, ditching the curved top tube of last year’s model for a straight top tube and dropping the seat stays. It's available in three builds priced from £800 to £1,500.
road.cc tested the Mustang Elite in 2016 that we concluded was affordable, adaptable and accessible – a good buy for the money.
The new Mustang retains the adventure bike DNA with a long wheelbase and relaxed head angle to provide less twitchy handling than a race bike and provide more comfort.

Raleigh is keen to remind us that it is ideal for commuting as well as on and off-road adventures The same versatile appeal can be said of most adventure bikes, of course, but the choice of tyres, gearing and provision for mudguards and racks look to make them ideal for anyone looking for a versatile mixed terrain bike.
The new Mustang has a frame made from double butted 6061 aluminium with space for wide tyres, with 36mm Clement X’Plor MSO tyres fitted to all three bikes in the range. Thru-axles and flat mount feature across the range.
The range starts with the Mustang Sport (£800) which is specced with a Shimano Claris groupset and the FSA Adventure chainset to provide lower gears ideal for off-road adventuring.
The Mustang Elite (£1,100) upgrades the components to SRAM Apex 1, a single ring chainset paired to a wide-range 11-speed cassette and TRP Spyre mechanical disc brakes.
Topping out the range is the Mustang Comp (£1,500) which uses the same SRAM Apex 1 groupset but with hydraulic disc brakes.
The bikes are available now from www.raleigh.co.uk and we're eyeing up one for review. What do you think of the revamped Mustang?

That's not a Mustang, THIS is a Mustang!
They look like kids bikes.
i'm really disappointed over the revisions, as the last comp, had hydro rival, and a american classic wheelset, yet this one has own brand and a lower tire groupset, might be worth just looking around for the old one, as it's pretty much better in everyway.
The steel Mustang with the end of season prices seemed a real bargain to me. Please bring it back with a smart single color paint job and a little taller headtube so that we will have a great commuter/do it all bike at a decent price
Used to have Hy/Rd brakes and Rival one for £100 less. 2018 is a bad year.
