Police seek witnesses in deadly bike and tractor collision in Norfolk

Did you see a black bicycle or a green John Deere tractor on the day in question?

Police have appealed for witnesses in a cycle collision that saw a man die when he hit an tractor and trailer in Norfolk.

Paul Dye, 43, from Spixworth, died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge last week after the collision on the North Walsham Road.

Norfolk’s assistant coroner David Osborne opened an inquest into the death this week, said that Mr Dye suffered a traumatic head injury following a road traffic collision.

Air ambulance staff tried and failed to save his life.

The inquest was adjourned for a full hearing on January 6, 2016.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information concerning the driving manner of either the black bicycle or the green John Deere tractor and trailer ahead of the collision.

Anyone with information should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Wymondham on 101.

A flat straight road & the cyclist just rides into a stationary vehicle. I do hope a witness comes forward that clear this up.

The incident happened shortly after 5.30pm on Tuesday, June 16 when the man on a black pedal bike was in collision with a stationary green John Deere tractor and trailer on the B1150 North Walsham Road around 500 metres south of Crostwick Lane.

RiP and condolences to his family.

I must say that I visited the Norfolk in March, staying near Downham Market and didn't go out on my bike once, the speed limits are excessive for the standard of roads in the area, the policing non-existant and the driving standards appaling. I consider myself a competent road user and I was terrified to use my bike.
