Pearson Cycles are set to stage another edition of their summer sportive, the Pearson 150 Sportive, on 19th May. They’ve collaborated with the organisers of the popular Puncheur, and will be aiming to raise money for the Royal Marsden cancer charity.
Last year they raised over r £60,000 for the Royal Marsden Cancer charity, and they're hoping to go even higher this year. Organisers Guy and William Pearson hope to do this by making the event even better than previous years: “We want to be able to offer entrants the sportive of the year for 2013 with even better services to make the day a great experience for everyone,” William commented.
The event offers riders a choice of two distances, 75 and 150km. Working with Morgan Lewis, the organiser of the Puncheur sportive, means they can give improved support to riders including support vehicles, better stocked feed stations, improved signage and an extra feed stop on the longer route, and marshalling points at strategic points on course.
Royal Marsden in Sutton is the headquarters for the event with the route taking in some of the best roads in the Surrey and Sussex countryside. The 150km route heads right down to Brighton and back, while the shorter distance follows the same route halfway before turning back early to join the longer route later on.
In other news, Pearson will be supporting a 24 hour ride for the Duchenne Children's Trust on 31st May. Channel 4’s presenters Jon Snow and Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Olympian Jamie Baulch will be using the Pearson 150 as part of their training, so keep an eye out for them if you’re riding.
Here’s the 150km route and the 75km route.
