The simple and surprisingly understated design by Castelli for the new Entrata jersey makes a comfortable and stylish summer top.

The Enrata is made from Castelli's ProSecco 3D fabric, which scores 10/10 for the play on words for starters. Improved evaporation, by spreading moisture across the jersey within the fabric, helps with keeping your skin noticeably dryer and cooler. Even with the customary Castelli tight fit, the Enrata wasn't clinging to my skin even on the few genuinely hot days of this early spring.

The material is very thin, making it nice and light but also fairly transparent. It may not be as bad as the Team Sky mesh skinsuits, but you wouldn't want any brightly coloured bib straps underneath the white jersey we tested. Even with the thin fabric, It was surprisingly warm in the wind, which certainly helped in some of the less predictable weather.

Adding to the breathability of the material, the full length YKK camlock zip meant for great ventilation and easy use while riding.

With Castelli's new stretch mesh armbands and raw-cut edges, the sleeves are firmly planted and stay nicely in place. The same goes for the collar with the raw-cut edges so no itchy or annoying seams that rub. The zip tucks in close around the neck with no irritation making for a bit of resistance to a cold breeze.

The three pockets on the back are plenty big enough for all the essentials on a long summer ride. Even my all important Soreen loaf could be squeezed in. Despite the large size, the pockets remain secure when fully laden.

The Entrata has five colours to choose from and is now in direct competition with Castelli's own 2013 Prologo jersey brought out last summer. Despite the relatively typical price tag for high quality summer kit, the Entrata is still, as the name suggests, an entry level jersey within the Castelli range. Having said that, with the refreshingly simple design that offers everything you could need, why spend more?

Tell us what the product is for, and who it's aimed at. What do the manufacturers say about it? How does that compare to your own feelings about it?

Said to be aimed at every day riding, the jersey certainly feels high enough quality. I'm not sure I would want to ride in 'mild and damp' conditions the description says you can, but it worked nicely on warm/mild and dry rides. The prosecco material really did keep you dry and comfortable from sweat. The raw-cut edges meant for a nice tight lock around the arms without excess pressure and the full length zip, along with the 3 large pockets, meant for easy use of the jersey while moving.

The jersey is well made with neat seems and no loose threads.

Nice tight fit with no excess material and great wicking. No movement in the arm bands and fully laden pockets still remained nicely placed on your back. The full length zip was easy to use while moving and wasn't irritating under the chin. Plenty of space in the pockets for all you need on a summer ride.

With it being very thin material, a few threads of the material (not seams) have come loose. Likely to have been caught when taking items out of the pockets. Something to watch out for and I certainly wouldn't be pinning race numbers through this jersey.

As far as summer jerseys go, this one seems nice and light. Helped keep me cool on the hot rides.

The light material and tight fit made for a very comfortable jersey. Even when riding in the heat, the prosecco fabric meant it never stuck to my body and dried off very quickly. There were no annoying seams or irritating zips to worry about and the raw-edge arm bands made sure the arms stayed in place without being over tight.

It's still not cheap for something as basic as a summer jersey, but the high quality fabric and great comfort certainly made up for some of that. It does everything you could need of a summer jersey so I wouldn't go spending more.

Very light material that stayed dry and didn't cling to the skin even on hot rides. Nice simple and comfortable design.

I agree it may be a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. I've not been disappointed with any piece of kit with the scorpion on. I can't say that for every other piece of kit I've had from some other brands.

I've got the Castelli Prima, which is what I suspect this jersey replaces (because they no longer make the prima and it was a similar price/style to this).

Worth noting that Castelli clothes come up a good deal smaller than other brands -- I'm 80KG, 182cm tall, 30inch waist, and I probably really need a large with Castelli. By comparison, Dhb large on me looks a bit like a sail 1 As it happens, I went for medium when I got the Prima, but it means it's a super-tight fit. Race cut and then some. Good incentive to make sure I stay trim 1

And, as the reviewer mentioned, the white material is pretty transparent. Do love my Castelli stuff though, they do make great clothing. Just wish it wasn't so damn expensive.
