Ready for your first sportive challenge of the 2019 season?
Spring Forward Sportive is back for our third edition with an extra feed and a sting in the tail!
40 or 57 miles:
Spring Forward is the first RideStaffs sportive of 2019 and one of the favourite early season sportives for cyclists in the West Midlands.
Your route is designed as the chance to test your legs after the long winter and we’ll be serving up a selection of terrain to keep things interesting from start to finish.
The ride will begin and end on the high street in Uttoxeter with Bear Coffee playing host to registration and serving up great food and drink.
If you’ve never ridden a RideStaffs sportive before, we’ll look forward to greeting you with a warm welcome, smiley faces and a can-do attitude to making your day a success.
Our entry process is simple. So when you’re ready to push the button, make sure you’ve got your card details handy and you’ll be just a couple of clicks away from securing your spot on the start line.
How do we get there?
It’s easy, just check out the routes, browse the add-ons, then head to the checkout to build your own bespoke sportive experience.
Routes – The long and the short of the 2019 Spring Forward Sportive
When you sign up, we’ll ask you to indicate which route you’re intending to ride. There’s no difference in price, both routes have the same 2 feeds and you’re more than welcome to change your mind on the day, or even out on the route if thats your thing.
The Long One:
- 57 miles
- 2956ft climbing
- British Cycling Difficulty Grade 2
- Minimum ave speed: 12mph
Starting and finishing in Uttoxeter, our 58 mile route has plenty to test your early season legs with early and late climbs to bookend a route that has all the features of a true Spring Classic.
The first part of your ride will take you north towards Rocester, passing JCB, and Croxden Abbey as you gently climb towards the first main climb of the day – Quarry Bank, a 0.6m ascent that averages 5% but gets as steep as 16% on its hairpin bend. A couple of miles of descent follow to allow you to get# your breath back before another long phase of climbing that takes you all the way to Milwich from where it’s largely downhill to the first feed of the day at Hixon.
The middle phase of the ride is made up of rolling roads that take you up to Abbots Bromley and through Hoar Cross as you head east until you once again head north toward Hanbury and the second feed of the day.
After the second and final feed of the day we take a different route from Hanbury back towards Uttoxeter, adding a final sting in the tail with Marchington Cliff coming just 6 miles from the finish. This final climb is 1 mile long, has an average of 5.5% and a max of 13%. Good job it’s just 5miles to the end from the top!
The Short One:
- 40 miles
- 2194ft climbing
- British Cycling Difficulty Grade 1 (easy)
- Minimum ave speed: 10mph
Your shorter route is 40 miles long with a couple of short cuts that let you spring forward relative to riders on the long ride. So if this is your chosen option, you’ll be taking the direct route from Uttoxeter to the first feed via Kingstone and Blythe Bridge.
After the feed you get a more direct route to Abbots Bromley before once again joining riders on the longer ride for the remainder of the route through Hanbury and that final killer climb up Marchington Cliff before returning for a well earned rest in Uttoxeter.
The add-ons:
The extra bits that personalise your ride
Exclusive Spring Forward T-Shirts
Our Spring Forward t-shirts are exclusive to the ride and made from comfy and durable heavyweight cotton. The jagged line on the design is the actual profile of your ride making this a real souvenir and emblem of your achievement on the day.
KOM Fuel Nutrition Packs
Your second available add-on for the ride is a nutrition pack to supplement the food you bring and the things we provide at the feeds. We’ve created these special selections with KOM Fuel to give you a boost around the route and kick start your recovery on the day. Better still, the packs also give you a chunky saving on the RRP of the contents if you were to buy them individually.
And included for everyone…
When you finish the event you’ll get a medal and finishers gift as you cross the line.
