On-bike video: Front row seat as Sacha Modolo wins Giro d'Italia Stage 17

Velon's latest footage sees them choose the right rider with cameras on-board with third placed Luka Mezgec...

Velon, the joint venture between 11 WorldTour teams, has released its latest on-bike video from the Giro d’Italia – and it’s a cracker, with a front-row seat as Lampre-Merida’s Sacha Modolo took the sprint win in Lugano as the race crossed into Switzerland.

That footage, which kicks in at about 2 minutes 20 into the video, was shot from the bike of Giant-Shimano’s Slovenian rider, Luka Mezgec, who finished third on yesterday’s Stage 17 behind Modolo and Trek Factory Racing’s Giacomo Nizzolo.

That highlights one feature of on-bike footage – pick the right rider on the right stage, and you can get something special, and that’s exactly what Velon managed to do yesterday with their choice of Mezgec.
