Videos: Alpe d’Huez from inside the peloton – and the Team Sky car as it gets attacked

On-board camera gives idea of just what it’s like to ride (and drive) through Dutch Corner

With the Alpe d’Huez making its first appearance in the Tour de France since 2013 yesterday, and on-bike video now allowed, Velon’s latest video shows exactly what it’s like to race through the crowds, including Dutch Corner, where many fans had been partying for three days.

A separate video, meanwhile, shot from within one of the Team Sky cars, shows the less than warm reception they were given on the mountain – a chance to test the Jaguar’s windscreen wipers ahead of today’s final stage into Paris, but let’s hope they wound the windows up before things got too nasty.

The first Go Pro video was good, although ASO need to get those nutters almost blocking the road away as sooner or later there will be a nasty accident or a rider(s) get pulled off and they then go ballistic with a spectator(s).

The second video not so good. Quality was crap anyway. I thought Sky would have had better quality cameras in their cars. It could all be avoided by having better security, marshalling or barriers pretty much up the whole length of a climb. Who ever those spectators are they are morons, and probably drunk morons at that. I hope the French police decide to try and trace then prosecute the scum that spat at Froome as he rode by.

Pretty good footage with the Go Pro in the first vid. It would be good if all riders had cameras fitted front and rear, if only to see the awesome efforts they make and risks they take descending not to mention seeing who causes crashes …………. I would buy Go Pro shares now!

Sky should recruit Bernard Hinault. He would not take any abuse, no matter what country the scumbags come from. Simple jealousy; Sky are better than the other teams and they try to justify their lack of cycling sportsmanship by claims of doping - the funny thing is, look at the lowlife dopers who are making the claims - why are they given any airtime at all.

Next year Sky should smear their cars in dog shit, then anyone banging on the roof etc will get a nasty surprise.

Next year, Sky should have go-pros on all their riders and be prepared to pass evidence to the police.

I wonder if they gave that reception to Moviestar or any of the other teams? Or is this behaviour just kept for the yellow jersey and his team, or maybe just Sky? Not a big fan of Sky but you have to reapect the fact that they have a very good squad.

"Team Sky’s management have suggested that the attitude of the French media is one cause of the sometimes poisonous atmosphere at the roadside. Innuendo about doping has been rife. Former professional Laurent Jalabert said during the stage on Tuesday: “It feels a little uncomfortable seeing the ease of Sky when contrasted with the distress experienced by the first three of the Tour last year.”

Jalabert won several one-day races, the Vuelta a España and the mountains jersey in the Tour de France, but tests later revealed that he used EPO".

Enough said.

That's a disgrace...plain and simple.

Imagine the furore if Marc Madiot's car or a Dutch team's car had been subjected to that....

...and I do think they look like they are Dutch...

...suggest we just go and beat them again....and again....and again....and again....and again....

Utter disgrace the french display .I don't know what could be done other than fencing off the slower sections and a quick baton slap from the odd gendarmerie

You saw nothing of that when the tour came to Yorkshire last year. The French are not true cycling fans, yobs at best!

How do you know they are all French? Do you have a nationality detector?

It's Dutch corner - that's D....U....T....C....H corner - and the majority are wearing orange which is the colour of......yes, Holland.

Perhaps, assumming they are French is being a tad sweeping.
