Yesterday’s fourth and final stage of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Tour took place on the Yas Marina Grand Prix circuit – and world champion Peter Sagan took inspiration from Formula 1 to pop into the pits for a bike change.
The 25-year-old Tinkoff-Saxo rider also changed helmets during the brief stop, where he also received assistance from team owner Oleg Tinkov, who holds a cardboard sign that he flips over to tell Sagan when he can ‘Go’ (though the letters are upside down).

Sagan finished second on the stage, which was won by Team Sky’s Elia Viviani. Esteban Chaves of Orica-GreenEdge won the overall. Here’s Velon footage of the final stage.

The Slovakian was also the star turn at the first ever UCI Cycling Gala, which followed the end of the race yesterday, and unlike other male attendees who arrived suited and booted, was dressed more like a rock star as he accepted a framed rainbow jersey from the governing body’s president, Brian Cookson.

The amount of articles about white shorts last week was staggering. This week it's a leather jacket.
The multi billion pound fashion industry does.
Well there were few female attendees, as the UCI seemed to almost entirely forget that women's cycling is a thing. Again.
A large number of pro women cyclists were invited, apparently. Whether they could be arsed to travel to the UAE for some pompous awards ceremony probably has more to do with a lack of attendance.
If anything if I were a female cyclist I might be tempted not to travel to the UAE on principle.
There were 13 awards for men (including 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the World Tour points ranking that no-one gives a shit about), versus five for women (just first place for the World Cup points ranking, that was hotly and actively contested). Men that couldn't be present were able to send video messages. Women weren't.
A legend in the making.
There does seem to be an awful lot of repressed desire aimed at Mr Sagan; every time he appears it seems to need middle aged men to comment on his appearance.

I'd would much rather associate with someone who turns up not complying with a dress code than someone who turns up with nothing more than empty promises and an inability to act on the things they claimed they would.
Oh absolutely, love the guy. Pure man-crush and girl-crush for Swagan in this household. Just about the only way I get away with streaming races in the living room!
