At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

There's certainly no missing them, the Outeredge Aerotex Reflective gloves are ideally suited to winter riding when cold, wet and dreary conditions are batted away with a swipe of your fluro-clad hands!

I'm generally not a fan of fluro, but the Outeredge reflective gloves in their resplendent fluro yellow really highlight why it can be a good idea. They are very noticeable on the morning and evening commutes with the yellow standing out in the winter gloom, the reflective detailining does a grand job of being picked out by the car lights. A touch more reflectivity on the knuckles wouldn't go amiss, enabling oncoming traffic to pick you out a little easier.

They withstand both cold and wet very well, keeping fingers warm in sub-zero conditions and dry on wet days. Their long cuffs should sit under most jacket sleeves. They have been worn for several hours of top quality rain with no sign of ingress, the material also allows sweat from the hands to be dispersed so your hands don't get clammy.

As far as comfort levels and dexterity are concerned, they do a very good job. Using them on both mechanical and electrical shifters there were no major issues with miscues and they were able to find the relevant paddles in all instances. For longer rides the comfort was spot-on, with just the right amount of padding for the palms. As an indication of how good they are, I've had to go back to the review and edit it, adding in this whole paragraph - the reason I forgot it? There were simply no issues at all so I hadn't even thought about it (to me that's the sign of a product that's been done well).

The palms are showing no sign of wear after several hundred miles of use, in actual fact the only signs of wear are to the yellow material which gets grubby easily - a simple hand wash will soon get them back and shining again. The sweat wiping panel is also prone to signs of filth, testament to its comfort when wiping frozen noses, again this comes off in the wash.

Available for around £20 they are very competitively priced for such good item, out performing winter gloves twice their price, well worth grabbing a pair.

Verdict

Well priced and able to hold off the element, altogether a quality item

Judging by the colour, that would be the element of good taste.
