The Drifter is an mtb cut with camouflage livery and two capacious rear pockets-great for stashing snacks and smaller trade bottles (Or in my son’s case, plastic aliens and smartie cakes!). Sizing is traditional “Polaris”, namely generous, although for kids' gear that's a definite plus given the rate at which they grow. My six- year old test pilot found it spot on across the shoulders but rather long in the torso for him. Looser cut is a real boon in the comfort stakes and it's not too flappy in blustery conditions.
A generous zipper allows young prodigies to control their inner climate and the Airbase fabric seems surprisingly adept at moisture management. My son hasn’t once complained about being (or looked) too hot -even when wearing the Drifter beneath polyester based technical jackets in changeable conditions. Drying time post showers and machine washes is around twenty minutes. The jersey provides excellent defence against chill whether riding the tag-along or crouching low on the drops.
All things considered it's a good buy, especially as you’ll get a season or two’s wear from it. For those not swayed by the combat theme, Polaris offers a road variant called the Leon available in red or classic yellow with a smattering of reflectives to boot.
A very good value jersey for budding enthusiasts. Loose cut and generous sizing with more appeal to boys.
