Save storage space with the Zero Gravity Rack, now on Kickstarter

Are you running out of space in your house or garage with bikes getting in the way? Here’s an interesting product that raises bikes up off the floor and stores them high in the air, freeing up space below.

Currently on Kickstarter, where it has blown past its funding goal by raising $23,501 with 17 days to go, the Zero Gravity Rack is a novel bicycle storage rack that elevates bikes into overhead space to free up space below, useful in small or cramped environments.

The rack uses a gas strut system with compressed air to effortlessly raise the bike, once fitted to the rack, from a vertical to horizontal position. It’s designed to work with bicycles weighing up to 50lb (22.6kg) so most road bikes will be fine but it will rule out some commuting and touring bicycles. 

The product was developed as a solution to bikes and surfboards taking up too much space in the garage of inventor Mark and his son Nick. They came up with the idea to develop a rack that would simply lift the bikes up off the ground and out of harms way.

A super early bird pledge of $119 will get you a rack at a price that is 25% cheaper than the retail price, or you can get two racks for $218. Shipping costs $155 to the UK, though…
