Videos: Stannard and Swift deliver Team Sky's pedal-powered Christmas message

British riders power 5,000 fairy lights to spell out seasonal greeting

Team Sky’s Ben Swift and Ian Stannard have helped deliver a pedal-powered Christmas message on behalf of the British WorldTour outfit – cycling as hard as they can to power more than 5,000 fairy lights attached to frames and other bits of kit that spell out a festive greeting.

The results are shown in the video below, and it’s clear there’s a lot of thought went into the smooth execution – though given who their headline sponsor is, you’d expect it to be a slick piece of work.

There’s also a separate video showing how they did it.

The team are on a training camp on Mallorca, where they also enjoyed their Christmas dinner, with the festivities shown in this video – including Sir Dave Brailsford dressed as Santa Claus, no doubt pondering which marginal gains could be brought to a team of reindeer pulling a sleigh.

Geraint Thomas starred in last year’s Christmas video from Team Sky, the versatile Welsh rider adding another skill to his already impressive repertoire.
