Video: Peter Sagan on what it means to wear the rainbow jersey

Tinkoff rider aims to finish Tour de France in green again – but he’ll start the race in the world champions’ bands

Peter Sagan hopes to end the Tour de France in the green points jersey for the fifth consecutive year, one short of Erik Zabel’s record – but he’ll be starting the race in the rainbow jersey of world champion.

The Slovak rider launched a late attack to pull off a stunning victory in Richmond, Virginia last September to win the world championship.

In this video from the UCI, he talks about what wearing the rainbow bands means to him. The video also features contributions from Tinkoff staff, as well as his team mate – and brother – Juraj.

With the Tinkoff team set to fold at the end of the season, Sagan has been linked  with a moved to the Germany-based team Bora-Argon 18, which is also reportedly switching its bike sponsor to Specialized – the brand, of course, that he currently rides.
