14-year-old arrested in connection with Gloucester hit and run

Cyclist was carried on bonnet before hitting wall of pub

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a late-night incident in which a cyclist was carried for 200m on the bonnet of a car before hitting the wall of The Treddy pub in Gloucester.

The incident, which took place on Tuesday October 18 at around 10.30pm, saw the driver of a silver Peugeot travelling along Tredworth High Street strike an 18-year-old male cyclist.

The cyclist was carried on the bonnet before colliding with the wall of the pub. The driver then ran from the vehicle towards the Laurels.

Gloucester Live reports that the victim was not seriously injured and was discharged from hospital the next day.

Police said that the road was closed until 3am to allow officers to carry out a collision investigation and following house to house and CCTV inquiries, a 14-year-old Gloucester boy was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

He has been bailed to return to police on December 22, pending further inquiries.

Officers are still seeking information from the public however. Anyone with information can get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident 481 of October 18. You can also contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their anonymous online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.

I think the norm is for the ban to start from the age of 17, not immediately, in these cases.
