Shred Classic road race takes over Plymouth’s waterfront

Hour-long 1km circuit race coming to the South West

The evening of Wednesday the 25th August 2010 sees a new road race take over Plymouth’s Historic Hoe as amateur riders from all over the region battle it out to be crowned the Shred Classic Champion in a one-hour circuit race.

100 of the region's top amateur cyclists will be battling it out around a 1km track which overlooks Plymouth Sound. It's an out-and-back circuit with tight turns at each end, so it should make for exciting racing, and there will be refreshments, local trade and entertainment on the Hoe as well.

Event organiser Steve Toze said “At Shred we love Plymouth and we love to race bikes so bringing a bike race to our city centre is a fantastic opportunity for us. We've had a really great response with local businesses donating some excellent prizes and lots of local support to help make the event happen. The idea is to create a really strong community feel around the event with local riders, local businesses and hopefully plenty of local people out to support them as they sweat it out.”

The event is open to all 2nd, 3rd and 4th category riders who fancy a challenge and the chance to win some amazing prizes which have kindly been donated by the race sponsors and local businesses. If you fancy a go then you can get registered either by emailing shredmarketing [at] me.com for an entry form or by sending a British Cycling standard road entry form along with a cheque for £15 payable to ‘shred limited’ to:

Shred Limited
New Victoria House
Weston Park Road
Plymouth PL3 4NX.
