Two Broad Arrows now showing on Rapha site

Short film by Adrian Moat celebrates Sean Kelly's discovery of cycling...

Currently showing in splendid HD on the Rapha website is Two Broad Arrows, a rather beautiful short film by Adrian Moat.

The film is the second project between Rapha and RSA Films inspired by road racing. Johan Museeuw, Sean Kelly and Dario Pegoretti are celebrated in three cinematic portraits exploring the passion, history and drama of the sport.

Writer and director Adrian Moat said about Two Broad Arrows, "The idea was to make a film that reflected the spirit and drive of Sean Kelly by relating him to the real world [...] as an example of a man that knows how to suffer, and to identify his spirit with the potential of youth."

According to Rapha, the film should no longer be visible on its site (it was scheduled to disappear at 10.00 today – Saturday 21 August) but it’s still there. When it disappears it will hopefully still be available on Vimeo.

Based on a trio of story-labels originally found inside the Rapha Club Jerseys, each film brings a new translation: as well as Adrian Moat’s tale of discovery there’s the intense dreamscape of Nick Livesey's ode to Johan Museeuw, and Ben Ingham's intimate view of Dario Pegoretti in his workshop.

The scene setting at the start - the father ranting- was terribly laboured - it could have been cut to about 30 seconds.

I agree the hills look great and it's all very pretty. I was just suprised how cheesy it was.

You can't knock the beauty of the hills - what a great road to ride - its says filmed in Northumberland - does anyone know where?

It is undeniably a beautifully shot short film, but I know what you mean TheHatter - I spent most of the thirteen minutes waiting for something to happen. It's of a style viewers will either love or hate. Interestingly I can see Two Broad Arrows finding as many fans amongst non-riders as it will within the cycling community. We are, after all, seasoned critics and a very tough bunch to please.

I watched this and was really disappointed. Call me a philistine but I found this very, very lame.
