Two arrests following collision that resulted in the death of London cyclist Anita Szucs

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision following the incident that resulted in the death of Anita Szucs in Enfield on Monday.

Szucs was cycling home from a late shift at a warehouse in Edmonton at around 1.45am when she was hit by a small white car.

Enfield Today reports that a 19-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were arrested and have been bailed pending further enquires to a date in late March. The car involved has also been located.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Chadwell Heath are investigating and have asked anyone with information to call the witness line on 020 8597 4874 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Szucs was the first cyclist to die on London’s roads in 2017, but within hours another fatal collision had taken place in Whitechapel on CS2.

A woman who has now been named as Karla Roman was knocked down by a coach and taken to nearby Royal London hospital where she later died.
