Right to Play Tour de France charity ride ups the ante

Ride with the Pros and Meet Erik Zabel with Right to Play Charity Ride

The ride to the end of the first stage of the 2011 Tour de France, at Les Herbiers near Nantes, with charity Right to Play kicks off in London on 29th June, and there are still places available.

The carrot being dangled in front of possible riders just got bigger, too. If helping disadvantaged kids through the medium of play wasn't enough incentive to ride the 350 mile route over four days, then perhaps the chance to ride the final day with two riders from Team HTC-Highroad might swing it. If that's still not enough, then perhaps a chat with Erik Zabel might just tip the balance.

Yes, you'll have to raise a chunk of money for charity, but it's a small price to pay for four days cycling through France in aid of a good cause, with some real pros along for the ride and a chance to meet one of the sport's genuinely big names.

Registration for the event is still open and costs £240

The fundraising target is £1200

Lara has been riding bikes for longer than she'd care to admit, and writing about them nearly as long. Since 2009 she has been working as part of the road.cc review team whilst championing women's cycling on the side, most notably via two years as editor of the, sadly now defunct, UK's first and only women's cycling mag, erm, Women's Cycling.

Believing fervently that cycling will save the world, she wishes that more people would just ride a bike and be pleasant to each other.

She will ride anything with two wheels, occasionally likes to go fast, definitely likes to go far and is always up for a bit of exploring somewhere new and exciting.
