New TfL film celebrates London's love affair with the Boris bike (+ video)

Flexibiliy, convenience and access to a bike in London all part of the draw for users

It’s more than a year now since the first journeys were made on the distinctive blue bikes of London’s Barclays Cycle Hire Scheme on 30 July 2010, and nearly ten months since it was expanded beyond members to casual users, too.

We have to say, we’re big fans of the scheme too and can be found zooming around town on Boris Bikes on our trips to the capital – the Bakerloo line into the West End from Paddington is now fading into a distant memory.

Since the launch of the scheme, Transport for London (TfL) has produced several short films highlighting the difference that being able to hop on and off a bike at will has made to both businesses and individuals in the capital.

The latest in the series, shown below, shows both Londoners and visitors talking about what they get out of the scheme when using it for leisure – flexibility, convenience, and having access to a bike when you don’t own one yourself all scoring highly.
