Entry tickets are now on sale for 2012 events in the Wiggle Super Series as it heads into its third year, with a total of 22 sportives and MTB rides across the South of England on offer as the programme continues to expand to meet demand.
One of the events that is building upon its success in 2011 will be the Wight Ferry Sportive, which kicks off with a ride in the New Forest National Park, with riders taking a ferry over to the Isle of Wight to follow a route around the island, before heading back to the mainland to complete the course.
There are also extra places available on what proved to be some of the most oversubscribed events in 2011, including the Wiggle New Forest Spring Sportive and New Forest 100.
There are incentives on offer both for those who book early, as well as for cyclists keen enough to attempt the full programme of 13 road events; the former will receive an Early Bird incentive of a free High5 Race Faster pack worth £12 if they enter any event more than eight weeks beforehand, while for the latter, the Super Series Season Pass, introduced this year, returns for 2012.
Under that initiative, the first 100 cyclists paying £340 for a Gold Ticket – giving the equivalent of 40 per cent off individual entries – will be guaranteed a place on all 13 sportives, with passes available on a first come, first served basis. A similar scheme is in place for the MTB events.
Martin Barden, of series organisers UK Cycling Events, said: "We're really excited about the 2012 Wiggle Super Series. This year proved to be a massive success and we saw many riders returning time and again to take part in our events."
Events are aimed at everyone from experienced riders to those new to the sportive scene and typically have a variety of routes on offer, as well as well-stocked feed stations, mechanical support, chip timing, clearly-marked courses, Massages, bike wash facilities and medals for finishers are also featured
UK Cycling Events is also repeating its own 'No Excuses' Sportive, a free event for up to 1,000 riders, although there is a bit of a catch – if you don’t complete the course, you’ll have to pay £25, with profits going to charity. Full details including the date and venue will be released shortly.
A new website has been launched to support the series, giving full details of all events and also providing videos that will give you a taster of what you can expect if you sign up.
