Pedal Power Premiere

Students from a school in Southport will be premiering a short film they made about cycling and the role it plays in the lives of local people tonight.

The film, titled Pedal Power – The Way Forward was made by a group of girls aged 12-14 from Greenbank High School and will premier at the Southport Arts Centre this evening at 6.30pm.

The girls spent six months producing the footage to show how cycling can be an important role in peoples lives, to offer insight into road safety and practical tips for cyclists through helmet-cams which were used to shoot some of the film.

It also features interviews with local people, healthcare professionals, Sustrans local Bike It officer, and experts from the UKs national cyclist organisation CTC.

The film was organised by the North Sefton City Learning Centre and CTC’s Cycle Champions Officer for Sefton, Juliet Jardine, who worked closely with the school for over a year.

Around 150 guests are expected at the premiere, including representatives from other ‘Cycling Towns’ in the country.
