The Cannondale SuperSix Evo Black Inc, with its stealth black paint job and matching components, is the bike for people who’ve got it but don’t want to shout about it. The most on-trend bike reckons our Tony, who picked it as his Eurobike Fave in this video.
This was Tony’s standout bike of the show. Impressive that he managed to narrow his choice down to one bike from the many thousands that were on show. The SuperSix Evo Black Inc. is a pretty special bike though, and despite its stealth finish is easy to spot, especially on the green Cannondale plinth it was fixed to.
There are now four SuperSix Evo frames in the range. This version uses some fancy hi-mod carbon fibre with nano resin (where carbon nanotubes are fused with the resin, the bonding agent between the tubes). The result is Cannndale's lightest frame, with a claimed weight of 655g that puts it in elite company. It’s also lighter than the frame that Peter Sagan and his his team mates race, they have to make do with the regular Hi-Mod Evo with a 700g frame.
No expense has been spared in building the bike, as you would expect for a flagship bike. There are some trick components that would feature on many wish lists. A Shimano Dura-Ace 11-speed mechanical groupset - because it’s lighter than Di2 - is fitted along with Cannondale's own 483g SiSL2 chainset. The Enve carbon wheels with Chris King hubs, stem, handlebar and seatpost, along with the Fizik saddle, have been finished in matching black with gold trim. This gold trim is mirrored on the frame. Fortunately it is discreet enough that it isn’t too tacky. Well, we don't think so anyway.
You’d think such a build would be light wouldn’t you? And you’d be right, the claimed weight of 5.2kg (11lb) for a size 56 is seriously impressive, especially considering it’s built with readily available components. Expensive components mind, but lightweight doesn’t come cheap. The price tag for this bike is, are you ready for it… £8,499.

Matt black. Yawn Seriously, can Cannondale really not come up with anything more original for their top end frame?
Oh need to add for all those who favour spending over £8k on a carbon bike there's nothing wrong with a CaaD 10/Ultegra or Dura-ace offering from Cannondale I'd probably opt for over another carbon purchase. Also Specialised are re-inventing their Aluminum frames for 2014 with newer 'lighter' welding techniques. Carbon isn't always the answer.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, but a splash of colour wouldn't go amiss. It looks like a pre-production model to me!
What a bloody awful review.
Thanks!
(it isn't a review)
Aaah love it! Does have to be Dura-Ace mechanical all the way though. Yes nice bike but I'd go down the route of the Cannondale Hi Mod Team frameset inc the chainset £2500ish (chainset is worth £700) with hand built wheels 'CK' hubs £1000ish if carbon rim'd. Even with the 2013/14 stock change at dealers I'd expect further expected £££ reduction with cash. I'm sure you can knock 3.5K of that 8K+ price tag and get a very close build. Cannondale all the way
I'd beg to differ on Dura being the ultimate though, that would be Super Record, naturally.
And I'm a Sram guy but if you look around the market, most manufacturers highest model is Dura Ace equipped and the 'perception' seems to be that DA should be fitted on the highest level bikes.
I was teasing buddy, don't worry
Cannondale frame weights are for 56cm frames (most popular size) with hardware (bottle bosses/mech hanger etc) and painted.
Mechanical groupset and rim brakes? Didn't Tony get the memo?
Plus they could surely have dropped another pound with Super Red or Red, frankly I'm disappointed in this build.
Yes we could easily have dropped more weight out (Sram RED as you say) plus the ENve finishing kit isn't the lightest but does it really need to be any lighter than this? I think most people view Dura Ace as the ultimate and Enve kit is very well regarded. You also have to consider who can do small runs of custom stuff, the bars, saddle and Chris King hubs all have custom gold detailing and not every company can do that.
Doped, pretty sure the standard is 56
We're supposed to know this? Right.
And what about the bike makes where there is no size 56? When the weight is quoted in this case, what size are we meant to assume is being referred to?
Sorry but how hard can it be to just give us the frame size when quoting a weight?? This is leaving me all
Every major manufacturer uses 56 as a basis. Don't let it ruin your day.
Even the ones who don't even offer a size 56? LOL, okay!
Dear road.cc, when you give a frame/bike weight, could you please state which SIZE frame/bike this corresponds to? Ta, Doper.
Eleven? Are the tires inflated with helium?!
that is a gorgeous bike!!!
