Lorry gets stuck on climb of Tour de France Stage 8

The truck was stuck on the Côte de Mont-Saxonnex - but thankfully it now appears to have been moved

A driver managed to get his lorry stuck on the corner of a climb on today's stage of the Tour de France.

Thankfully, after a few moments of panic with incorrect reports claiming the truck was stuck on today's final climb, news came through that the vehicle had been cleared.

Images from the scene showed a queue of amateur cyclists waiting behind the truck which became wedged on a corner of the Côte de Mont-Saxonnex.

Initially, it was feared the lorry had become stuck on today's final climb, the 7.5km long Col de la Colombière.

Fortunately, we now have video evidence of the truck being removed from the Côte de Mont Saxonnex and drama has been averted. For now.

That's a dual carriageway compared to the Polish registered 40ft HGV we witnessed traversing the Col Du Glandon, it was nearing the summit at the 13% section. Must have made it,as there was no wreckage there when we rode up the following day. These HGV drivers were doing it to avoid the motorway toll fees

They must really have some belief in their brakes.

I'd be a bit concerned that my Hope Tech 3 E4s might not make it all the way down.

Good point, even if it is a joke. I am always praising my cable TRP Spyres, but I haven't tested them on an alpine mega descent. I have noticed that, on a fairly long and steep descent in the Lakes- with a heavy trailer behind, that there is a degree of fade. This is presumably due to heat, and occurs with El Cheapo resin pads. It soon resolves, and all I have to do at its worst is pull harder. I wouldn't dare ride like that with rim brakes.

It was part of the race convoy - a sponsor's truck - so they were probably just following along with everybody else, without much thought to the suitability of the road.

As an aside,

Quote:

A driver managed to get his lorry stuck

seems like a bit of an assumption, given that, as far as I can see, we don't know anything about the driver.

I don't think he has. There's nothing about impertinence, nor how we're all being ridiculous and anti-car (in a discussion about a lorry).

I'm also very disappointed that no one has had anything smutty to say about sausages getting stuck.

That's rather uncalled for.

Especially when I'm so well known for always being so courteous and reasonable...
