Video: Cyclist in Russia gets up after being knocked off bike by truck

Dashcam footage shows yet another close call on country's roads...

Video captured by a motorist’s dashcam in Russia has shown a cyclist getting up, seemingly unscathed, after being knocked off his bike by a lorry.

The incident took place at the Girvas exit of the E105 highway running south towards St Petersburg through the Republic of Kareliya, which borders Finland.

As the lorry passes the junction, it drifts into the right-hand off-carriageway lane where the man is cycling, clipping the rider as it passes him on the inside and knocking him off his bike.

Fortunately, the driver of the car equipped with the dashcam – which are commonly used by motorists in Russia – is driving well behind the lorry and is able to avoid hitting the cyclist.

The prevalence of dashcams in Russia – combined with often poor driving skills and lack of infrastructure for cyclists – have led to a number of other videos showing similar close escapes going viral.

Last month, footage emerged of two cyclists almost being hit by a lorry after it tipped over while overtaking them and collided with another truck heading in the opposite direction.

And a dramatic CCTV video from last year showed a cyclist somehow emerging unscathed as a lorry and car crashed at a junction at the very moment he was crossing it.

Video removed by user : -(

There's another video somewhere of a woman cyclist apparently being run over by a truck - the rear wheels bounce right over but she jumps up and gives the driver an earful.

These bloody vigilante dash cam users. Going around, winding people up, looking for trouble.

Completely avoidable.
