Danny MacAskill among stellar cast in cracking Athlete Machine video from Red Bull (+ video)

"And all because the snowboarder loves... Red Bull"...

Scottish trials ace Danny MacAskill and Canadian BMX rider Drew Bezanson are two of the stars of a new video from Red Bull that showcases the talents of a number of its sponsored athletes in various disciplines helping power a Heath Robinson-esque ‘Athlete Machine’ to deliver a single can of its energy drink to snowboarder Pat Moore.

Not since the days of the Milk Tray man has so much effort gone into delivering so little product, and the film is also reminiscent of another iconic TV spot, Honda’s groundbreaking Cog advert.

Also going by the name Red Bull Kluge (“Kluge: a witty, yet inelegant solution that succeeds in performing a particular task”), it’s a terrific video, so sit back and enjoy, and if you want to see how it’s done, the brand has made available a wealth of background information here.

Horrible stuff. Pretty sure it used to be banned in France, which is probably a good sign it's not great for you...

They do know a thing or two about making videos though!

Good but it should have ended with a Pythonesque boot kicking Felix Baumgartner out of that capsule.

Are they are positive things about red bull that come from its consumption?

I gather it gives an adrenalin high - obviously paid for later by a low - but is there anything else thats good about it?

Seems to me thats 'energy' drinks (odd that they dont market themselves by their true names of 'stimulant' drinks) are the 21st Centuries equivalent of cigarettes!

It's an overpriced revolting fizzy syrup, but at least they spend their ill gotten millions on some exciting stunts.
