Specialized updates recall on 2018 Allez bike - replacement forks now available

Specialized has started replacing defective forks on 2018 Allez road bikes

Late last year Specialized issued a notice to all dealers to stop selling 2018 model year Allez road bikes due to a manufacturing issue with the carbon fibre forks.

Today the US company has issued an update say it has received approval for its recall and will begin replacement of all affected forks. Replacement forks are now being delivered to Specialized bike shops for installation on affected bikes.

The recall affects all model year 2018 Allez (Base), Allez Sport, and Allez Elite bicycles. They were sold between July 2017 and December 2017. 2018 Allez Sprint bicycles and framesets, as well as Allez Junior bicycles, are not affected.

It adds that availability will initially be limited, with more forks arriving every week. It expects to have all forks replaced globally by the end of March.

If you have an affected bike your local retailer will be in touch to discuss the replacement fork. You can contact Specialized on ridercare-uk [at] specialized.com or call directly at 020 8391 3502.

Granted something went amiss with QA but surely a recall after the event is better than denial and potential serious injury.

Pat on the back to Specialised for doing the right thing.
