Car crashes into building - please post your Local news stories

Running this one up the flagpole to see who salutes...

I just don't remember this being a thing until recently, now it seems a daily occurrence.
Could it be that there are drivers not up to the job, too many cars; should houses be made to ride in single file, shops put on high viz, why are we putting newer buildings in danger like this, it's irresponsible.

'A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.48pm on Thursday, August 13, to a report of a collision involving a car and a wall outside Iceland on Poole Road in Bournemouth.

"It is reported that the vehicle was also in collision with a pedestrian, but they did not require medical treatment." '

"Collisions with bus shelters normally happen when van drivers pull onto the pavement to let a blue lights vehicle pass, and forget to allow for their height."

Errrrrrrrrrrr...

Feel so sorry for the family, likely to be in temporary accommodation for at least 6 months.

So, if God has the agency and desire to ensure that a shop was empty to avoid casualties, why didn't they use their divine power to hit the brakes and just avoid the collision entirely?

Any divine entity would surely by now have helped humans implement self-driving cars that never cause harm so that there is no way this type of incident could ever happen.  The fact that such self driving cars don't exist is proof - as if it were needed - that Gods don't exist (excluding Chris Boardman of course).

Well, you know the BMW drivers' saying: knock that house (hospital, social housing, care home, hospital...) down, could save 30 seconds on the trip!

That's the only confirmed BMW in that crop, there were a couple of Range Rovers and in the case of the York story, a Jaguar. Quite unlike the Cambs incident, this is another EV surging forward during a parking manœuvre. No substances, no medical episode it would seem.

Fair enough:

No, the lady doesn't sound all that keen on moving back there either. Here's the driver's eye view

Did the driver also claim that he was a member of Led Zeppelin or Deep Purple?

Yet another black mark against self-driving buses - or is it rail infra?  This time Kilmarnock:

Quote:

Four people have been hurt after a double decker bus crashed into a railway bridge tearing its roof off in Kilmarnock.

A dire threat of a good talking to, then?

RE: disqualified driver hits garden wall.  Was going to post that but:

a) The BBC got it right for once!  From the title it mentions a driver.

b) Although there was a crash into the built environment AND a car flip AND it's a problem of a driver (for everyone else) it doesn't really fit any of those threads.  This will be chalked up to "obvious wrong'un" and therefore not anything to do with "otherwise law-abding" drivers.  An exception which tests the rule but "is just one of those unavoidable consequences". (Along with all those road deaths).

But I do note the relatively short sentence (given previous) and the piddling "take two years off driving".  Which of course this chap has already proved he will ignore...

That's a bit forward!  But yes; pop up any time you like.  Except when the buses have been at the bridges.

The driver claims he "accidentally stepped on the gas too hard".

Does he have a career producing album covers?

That's what they all say.

"Accidentally stepped on the gas too hard" is another way of saying "not paying enough attention".

In this case can't we just give the twat a Darwin Award?
