Vuelta Stage 19: Grandest of Grand Tourers Adam Hansen gets the win

Lotto-Belisol rider takes the victory at Cangas do Morrazo after solo attack

Lotto-Belisol's Adam Hansen, riding his 12th successive Grand Tour, has won Stage 19 of the Vuelta a Espana this afternoon at Cangas do Morrazo following a solo attack on the final climb. Alberto Contador of Tinkoff-Saxo retains the race lead.

The Australian launched his attack with 4km remaining of the 18-0.5km stage from Salvaterra de Miño remaining. Points classification leader John Degenkolb of Giant-Shimano was second across the line, 5 seconds down, with Lampre-Merida's Pippo Pozzato third.

There's no change in the general classifiction, where Contador retains a lead of 1 minute 19 seconds over Chris Froome, whose Sky team mate Dario Cataldo had a bat crash, appearing to hit a tree, but remounted his buike.
