Dates confirmed for 2015 StreetVelodrome Series (+ video)

Most of the venues have been confirmed for next year’s StreetVelodrome Series, which will bring track pitting professional riders against local amateurs to towns and cities across the UK.

Worthing on the South Coast resort will host a round of the Series, which will once again be televised, on the weekend of 1st and 2 August 2015, with a pop up track hosting the racing.

Free to take part in and attend, the format sees riders go head-to-head in individual pursuit races on an elimination basis to decide who will race for the medals.

Moreover, the top local riders in each round will be invited to the series finale, which as last year will be held in London.

Carl Thompson StreetVelodrome Series director, said: “We are looking to bring the thrill of live track cycling to more and more people in 2015, having Worthing as an addition to our race calendar gives us an excellent opportunity to do just that.

“Worthing offers a growing reputation for being a cycle friendly destination with the South Downs on its doorstep and a historic legacy of a strong cycling club scene. Worthing makes an ideal venue for our Series.”

Bryan Turner, Worthing Borough Council’s executive member for regeneration who approved the hosting of the event, said: “I am delighted that Worthing will have another exciting, innovative and free event for everyone to get behind this summer, with the added benefit of global television coverage for the town.”

Full details of the 2015 StreetVelodrome Series will be unveiled during the London Bike Show which runs from 12 to 15 February and where the concept will be showcased.
