Retro Rendezvous – The Lake District Vintage Cycling Festival

Cycling festival, Ulverston - Friday, July 10 - Sunday, July12

The Retro Rendezvous festival is a  weekend of retro fun and vintage events right in the centre of Old Ulverston Town in the Lake District.

Cycling is far from the only theme of the weekend, however it does take the driving seat event-wise. Alongside the retro bikes, you'll enjoy the sights and sounds of retro music, fashion, shops, cars & much more.

On top of that you'll have the choice of four sportive routes that'll take you over some of the most beutiful hills in the area. The catch is, however, that you must take part on a retro bike.

The routes follow, accompanied by the price for each one:

Le Loafeur - 22km - £20

Le Coeur - 60km - £34

Le Trois Lacs - 80km - £34

The Sting - 83km - £34

Glasgow Family Friendly Social Ride

Beginner/family ride, Glasgow, 11 July 2015

Cycling isn't resevered for athletes and helmet-wearing super commuters. Cycling is as inclusive a sport as they come. In that vein, family ride and beginner cycling days are always worth keeping an eye out for.

This one, cycling to and from one of Glasgow's leading bike shops - the Glasgow Bike Station - this programme for families and beginners looks to get as many people as possible in the saddle and riding.

The rides are short, guided, and cover quiet roads, National Cycle Network cycle paths, and city parks, so there are as few safety worries as possible for any nervous riders out there.

The idea is to get people who don't cycle very often to build up some time in the saddle to help improve their confidence and their fitness and to get them into cycling. What's more, you don't even need a bike. All you have to do is ring ahead, and you'll be able to reserve one of the shop's own hire bikes for the morning's ride.

Follow this link to their website for more information about how to sign up and get in contact with the team.
