Rare Oakley C Six sunglasses being sold on eBay - for a cool $25k

British F1 specialist spent 3 years developing carbon fibre frames, only 250 pairs ever made

Would you pay $25,000 – around £17,350 –   for a pair of sunglasses? That’s the ‘Buy It Now’ price one eBay user has put on a pair of rare, and some might say iconic, Oakley C Six sunglasses.

Unworn and still with the original box, the pair is number 93 in a limited edition of 250 and has tunsgsten iridium polarised lenses.

Introduced in 2009, the C Six cost a cool $4,000 when first launched and was the model worn (in yellow and black Livestrong colours) by Lance Armstrong in his comeback Tour de France with Astana.

> The recession's over folks: now your bins can cost the same as your car

Northamptonshire-based Crosby Composites, which operates mainly in the Formula 1 and aerospace sectors, spent three years working with Oakley to develop the frames.

Like Nike trainers, Oakley attracts collectors – Mark Cavendish is one, and a huge fan of the brand dating back to before it sponsored him – so the C Six’s appearance on eBay is bound to garner interest.

What it hasn’t attracted as yet is a single bid – though 16 people are watching.

Here’s a link to some reviews of the C Six on an Oakley collectors’ forum.
