Sir Bradley Wiggins rides Manchester to London for autism charity

220 miles in over 12 hours of riding

Sir Bradley Wiggins was one of 215 cyclists who rode from Manchester to London on Sunday to raise money for Ambitious about Autism, the national charity for children and young people with autism.

Now in its fourth year, the Rapha Manchester to London Challenge saw participants ride through the Peak District, Midlands and the Chilterns before finishing at TreeHouse School in London.

Simon Mottram, CEO and Founder of Rapha Racing Ltd, said: "I know many of the riders sign-up for the sheer test , but my determination comes from raising money for a charity that is working hard to deliver a better future for young people with autism, including my son Oscar."

Over the past three years the ride has raised over £770,000 in support of the charity and this year it is hoped that the figure will pass £1m.

The ride was fully signposted with four feed stops serving locally sourced food, timing chips and a fleet of support vehicles and broom wagons to ensure no-one was left on the road or fell too far behind.

Registration for the 2018 Rapha Manchester to London Challenge will open soon on the Rapha website. If you would like to be added to the reserve list please contact Daisy at dpowling [at] ambitiousaboutautism.org.uk

Alex has written for more cricket publications than the rest of the road.cc team combined. Despite the apparent evidence of this picture, he doesn't especially like cake.

Strong hairline on the guy in the green and red. I'll have what he's having.

I've never got the issue with covered legs/uncovered arms,  your legs are doing the work, if they're a little bit cold, particularly around the joints, you won't be able to perform as well, your arms might not be working much and generating heat, but you're also not asking much of them so being a little cold isn't going to be a problem.

Remember, look after your knees and they'll look after you

Good to see him wearing his own merchandise too.  Very Iron Maiden-esque.

Or Mrs Wiggins was fed up of sewing labels into the back of his gear...

The mullet looks far more cool under the helmet!

Chapeau to a legend, as a father of autistic children there are so many little differences that can make such a huge impact on their lives, every pound means a lot!

I appreciate that Wiggo can do whatever he wants given his past success* but a short sleeve jersey and long bib tights? What was he thinking? Absolutely criminal behaviour and he should be reprimanded immediately.

* Can we not go into the ongoing TUE saga?

Seeing as as you brought it up, have the findings been released?

Hopefully lots of money was raised by the ride this year.

So he finds that his arms don't need as much coverage as his legs in cooler conditions and you find the need to make a big deal out with it, pompous idiot! I hope you don't ever wear long sleeves with shorts, you'd look a complete twat!

Someone doesn't want to enter into some light-hearted bants. Oh, and for the record, take a look at most of the ToB field in their arm warmers and shorts. Bunch of twats.
