2. Aubisque will (probably) be ready for Tour after road collapse
From our Friday live blog, the Aubisque is apparantly due to be the final climb of the race. The situation seemed pretty grim, but La République des Pyrénées reports that repair work will begin on Monday. The work will cost 700,000 euros, which sounds enough to keep it closer to four weeks than five.

The Canadian bike brand and Astana Pro Team sponsor Argon 18 has joined forces with German auto giants Mercedes-Benz for a run of high-end bikes, with the first to roll of the production line a handsome silver endurance machine complete with the famous Mercedes-Benz emblem.

5. Neil Campbell breaks European motor-paced cycling speed record
The Essex-based architect Neil Campbell has set a new European motor-assisted cycling speed record of 217.7 kilometres an hour (135.5 miles an hour). He broke the existing record of 204 kilometres an hour (127 miles an hour) over a 200 metre timed section after being towed up to speed behind a Porsche 4x4 on the runway at Elvingrton airfield in North Yorkshire.

6. Hinault urges riders to strike if Froome races the Tour

7. Froome coach attacks critics who ‘fuel anger or resentment’
Probably in response to Hinault, Chris Froome’s coach has hit out at ‘particular sections of the media,’ arguing that they are fuelling anger and resentment. With Team Sky bracing itself for a hostile reception from some fans during this year’s Tour de France, Tim Kerrison believes that responsible coverage is necessary to ensure the riders’ safety.

9. Michael Broadwith’s record-breaking LEJOG ride is now on Strava
No need to pan out on the map to work out where exactly this ride took place. Michael Broadwith’s Land’s End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) record-breaking ride is now on Strava. Earlier this week, Broadwith set a new LEJOG record of 43 hours 25 minutes and 13 seconds – more than half an hour faster than the previous record. Gethin Butler’s record of 44 hours 4 minutes and 19 seconds had stood for 17 years before that.

10. UCI approves disc brakes and moves to ban Tramadol from 2019
After almost three years of tests, the UCI has authorised disc brakes for road and BMX racing from July 1. The sport’s governing body also announced its intention to ban the use of Tramadol in competition from 2019.
