63-year-old man was unconscious when he was discovered near Morpeth, Northumberland on Saturday

Police in Northumberland have launched an appeal for information after a cyclist was discovered seriously injured lying in the road between Benridge and Pigdon, near Morpeth.

The incident, believed to have happened at around midday on Saturday 16 February, took place near the Benridge Riding Stables.

The victim, a 63-year-old man thought to be from the Seaton Sluice area, was found unconscious and taken to hospital for treatment, where he is said to be in a critical but stable condition.
