Bournemouth Cycling Centre needs your help to test new 250m outdoor track

Call to June proving trials issued to those with solid track experience and own bike

Experienced track cyclists who would like to get an early opportunity to try out what will be Britain’s only 250m outdoor track are invited to apply to take part in proving trials at the Bournemouth Cycling Centre in June ahead of it being opened to the public on 1 July.

The series of trials will be held on four days throughout the week, with the following focus:

* Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm for Induction, Training and Competition.
* Friday evenings from 6.30pm for Training.
* Saturday mornings from 9.00am until 1.00pm for Induction and Training.
* Sunday mornings from 9.00am until 11.00am for Training.

Riders with “significant experience in riding at Calshot, Newport or Manchester Tracks” should email info [at] bournemouth.cc

You’ll need to bring your own bike, although you will also be riding the centre’s own hire bikes, and organisers point out that it may not be possible for all those applying to take part.

For bikes to meet track rules, they must adhere to specific regulations which you will find here.

You can get further information at the Bournemouth Cycling Centre website, and can also follow them on Twitter.

We in Leicester are still waiting for the replacement for the old ex-World Championship Saffron Lane track to start construction in nearby Beaumont Leys.
This, if it ever gets built, is to be 250m and outdoors.

It disapoints me that we are not putting a roof over them.
Wind, rain, cold weather will severely curtail their use.
