Friday 29th is Royal Ride Day!! (Snigger)

Not that bothered about the Royal Wedding? How about a Royal Ride instead?

Rumour has it that something is happening in our fair capital on Friday 29th April 2011. There is talk of a wedding of sorts, and ensuing celebration by one and, erm, some. Many will choose to carouse in the streets and raise a toast to the monarchy, or perhaps sit glued to the television watching the ceremony. However, there will be others who will instead be taking advantage of the resulting empty roads and bonus day off work, to head out alone or in renegade rag tag groups for a sneaky ride in the balmy springtime sunshine. Those crazy fools eh?

Here's a round-up of a few of the organised rides taking place within the next 24 hours around the country if you fancy escaping your local street party.

Lara has been riding bikes for longer than she'd care to admit, and writing about them nearly as long. Since 2009 she has been working as part of the road.cc review team whilst championing women's cycling on the side, most notably via two years as editor of the, sadly now defunct, UK's first and only women's cycling mag, erm, Women's Cycling.

Believing fervently that cycling will save the world, she wishes that more people would just ride a bike and be pleasant to each other.

She will ride anything with two wheels, occasionally likes to go fast, definitely likes to go far and is always up for a bit of exploring somewhere new and exciting.

I went for a Chavauchee in the Seine valley and was punished for missing the Royal wedding by getting stuck in a 2 hour long thunder storm near Rouen. The first heavy rain they have had for months.

I shall be going out if the weather holds, my Tv's on the blink anyway, it's been full of gurning MORONS for the past week ... too stupid to see that their livelihoods have been stolen from them these past three years .... and too stupid to see the related engineering behind this wedding.

Sure Will n Kate seem nice enough, but who really gives a F••K??

Note me, as you may have guessed.

Angry of Wolverhampton.

I'm defo going out in the morning - we're having a street part in the afternoon, any excuse in our road. Will be really interesting to see just how quiet the roads are.

If they are going to watch the entire 8 hours of coverage on the BBC, they'll have a sorer arse the next day than those of us who will be riding a hundred miles.

Funny, I can't see any sign in the TV schedules of the approximately hour and a half of anti-monarchy programming the BBC should be showing to cater for the republican section of its license-fee payers, if the polls that monarchists love to trot out saying a fifth of the population activity supports a republic are true.

P.S. I just got what the "snigger" is refering to. You better watch out or you'll be sent to the Tower.
