Online bike retailer Wiggle has launched a mobile version of their award-winning website. They're saying today on launch that "it has almost all of the same features which has made the main site so popular around the world."
The new version of the site that automatically detects when it's being accessed by a smartphone allows users to browse, search and buy products in exactly the same way they usually would and includes all the facilities for shoppers to manage their accounts, browse order history and process a returns order. According to Wiggle, "All of the 140,000+ customer product reviews from the main site which are widely used when customers are making decisions on purchases are also accessible."
They're keen to stress that international users will also get all the benefits with the mobile site available in 10 different languages with payments in 15 currencies.
Steve Mills, Wiggle's head of e-commerce, says, "The Wiggle mobile site is already proving hugely popular with 12 per cent of our customers now shopping via their mobiles. We are selling up to 50 bikes a week on mobile devices, including a £4,800 Felt AR1 recently."
Only in March Wiggle won the Product Innovation of the Year at the Oracle Retail Week Awards for their in-house Verenti brand of sportive bikes against the likes of Waitrose, Boots and the Conran Group and they were also shortlisted in two other categories; Non Store Retailer of the Year and Growing Retailer of the Year.
Launched concurrently are mobile-specific e-commerce sites for their shopping partners including British Cycling, British Triathlon and the CTC.

Sounds likely. Only stumbled upon it by accident when I was bored at my inlaws!
Maybe it was soft launched to check it all worked before being formally announced? That wouldn't be unusual. Nick?
Just launched? This has been active for a few weeks now.
You have an Android phone, don't you? Apparently they quietly launched first on that platform but obviously couldn't make a song-and-dance about it until iPhone was ready.
Nope, iPhone. In fact, I successfully ordered some new tyres about 3 weeks ago using the mobile site. Worked pretty well.
Did they type tilt into google?
