Oli Beckingsale opens new bike store in Bristol + video

Pro MTBer teams up with renowned trainer Andy Wadsworth to launch new destination store

Tomorrow sees the launch of a new bike shop in Bristol, BW cycling. It's the brainchild of Olympian and five times national MTB XC champion Oli Beckingsale and 2002 Xterra amateur champion and renowned personal trainer Andy Wadsworth.

The store is based in Bristol's Cumberland basin, so it's not on the high street, but Oli and Andy are touting BW as a "one stop shop" for serious cyclist, though they're keen to point out that you don't need to be racing elite level to qualify: "someone who commutes is a serious cyclist" too. The store will stock a range of bikes (Giant, Scott, Santa Cruz, Avanti and Cipollini are listed on the site) plus clothing, accessories, components and energy products. They'll also be offering workshop services plus a range of extras that you wouldn't necessarily get at a standard bike shop: bike fitting, fitness testing, sports physio and personal training services will all be available from the store.

Cumberland basin has great links to both on- and off-road trails. There's a pump track in the basin itself for test riding mountain bikes, and you can get to both the Ashton Court MTB trails and the Sustrans network very easily; the MTB trails are accessible without even crossing a road. There's plenty of parking too.

Oh, and ex Bath Uni rider and sometime road.cc tester John Whittington is working there too. Good luck to him!
