Beds for Cyclists website celebrates first birthday with new look and record number of places to stay

Links touring cyclists with safe, comfortable accomodation en route

Beds for Cyclists, the website that connects riders with cycle-friendly accomodation, is celebrating its first birthday with a new look - and celebrating more than 600 hosts offering rooms for the night.

Finding safe, comfortable places to stay while cycle touring has never been easier, and the news and routes are regularly updated with new ideas to inspire your next trip, including the top five English long distance routes.

Sam Howard, Founder and Marketing Director, said: “Our website has been connecting all different types of cyclists with cycle-friendly places to stay for a year now.

"We've got feedback from hundreds of fellow cyclists about what the site should offer, culminating in this new design and layout. Similarly we’ve listened carefully to our accommodation providers to make sure they can really show off what they can offer.”

The site owners liaise with individuals offering bed and breakfast, and partner with businesses like the Youth Hostel Association, and Cycle End to End.

Sustrans’ Digital Manager, David Harris, is a fan. He said: “Beds for Cyclists is my go-to website for booking accommodation when I'm planning a cycle trip, whether I've already decided on a route or am looking for inspiration.

“It’s easy to find cycle-friendly places to stay, whether searching by location or route name, by browsing the results on the map. The mobile-friendly version is a bonus when you're out and about.”

Hi mike. Did you not use the mapping on the site? We use open cycle map to map our accommodation hosts against so users know where they can stay close to the national cycle network. We are working on showing all our hosts on the map at one time but it results in slow page loading speeds. I'd be keen to here why else you don't think the website is great as we're always keen to improve it. Sam - Beds for Cyclists Marketing Director

Good idea but the website is not great, it is sorely missing the ability to just browse a map with all the accommodation on, I just wanted to look for a place in which to base myself, whilst I could find everything if I search through pages/lists of things, a simple map that I could zoom in and out of would be perfect.
