Cyclists in Chorley have one last chance to give their bikes a service before the winter. If a bike is a bit poorly they can call on the Chorley bike doctor for a free expert diagnosis.
The surgery was due to close for the winter season in September, however, due to its popularity, an extra date has been added and the last one this year will be on Tuesday, October 20.
The surgery especially for bikes is held on Chorley’s Flat Iron market on the third Tuesday of each month for people to take their wheels for a free health check.
Adjustments and minor repairs can be made on site to ensure a bike is fit for the road. More serious ailments are referred on for specialist treatment.
The Bike Doctor, run by the Chorley and South Ribble-based Out and About Project, has been a huge success since being launched last summer. After the last date this month it will be taking a break for the winter but the service will resume next summer.
The Big Lottery-funded Out and About Project is part of the national charity Cycling Projects, which aims to get people of all ages and abilities onto their bikes.
The Bike Doctor also promotes all the other activities the project does, including led cycle rides and led walks throughout Chorley and South Ribble, and bike training for adults at Tatton Rec. There is also a range of maps for people showing on-road and off-road cycling routes in the area.
The Out and About Project is about to launch its winter programme of activities, for more details telephone 01772 643182.
