Trois Etapes announces Giro edition for third year

The Pro-am event extends its reach to the Italian Dolomites to double the repertoire of their Global series

Cosaveli, organisers of the Trois Etapes TdF, have announced a new event taking in classic passes of the Giro d'Italia. The Trois Etapes Giro will take place from 6-9 June 2014 and will hit four iconic summits: Passo Pordoi, Passo Giau, Passo San Pellegrino and Passo Fedaia.

The Trois Etapes TdF has raised $4.5 million in just two years for 11 charitable partners.

Much of the race series’ UK exposure is thanks to broadcasters Eurosport and Channel 4, but this year Cosaveli are looking to double their exposure themselves by offering two events.

The Trois Etapes Giro is the event’s first venture outside of France, and the organisers are hoping to find similar levels of success in the Dolomite mountains.

Designed to give riders the chance to experience team cycling under race conditions, with the full support that a pro would have in a Grand Tour, the Giro event will follow a similar format to that of its Tour counterpart.

The Trois Etapes TdF will take place on 7-10 August 2014 in teh Pyrenees and will see participants take on three stages, including the route of Stage 18 of the official 2014 Tour route.

The event incentivises tactical team riding, with each team connected via radio link to their very own team car and Directeur Sportif.

Each team has their own team charity and the members are tasked with raising money for their charity.
