The extensive use of alloy gives a reassuringly solid feel and the intricately machined T handle offers surprisingly good grip - even at the higher pressures and being double action improves efficiency managing 100PSI in a 700X23 and 85 inside a 26X1.5 in one hundred and fifty and two hundred and twenty strokes respectively.
However, achieving this demands a steady, consistent rhythm. Swapping between Presta and Schrader valve heads can be a chore- albeit very straightforward and eliminates the need for a second, specific inflator (e.g. for a trailer/tag-along). Build quality is superior to most I’ve used at this competitive price point, the finish resisting inevitable drops and carelessness, although lazer etched detailing began fading after regular entry/removal from the nylon frame mount.
That said, while marketed as a road specific product, it performs well under more demanding conditions-the omission of an end cap/bung prevents me recommending it for mtb duties but it’s more than up to the thrills and spills of green laning so long as you were happy to mount away from the firing line of dirt and water thrown up by the front wheel.
Relaiablel, lightweight and efficient roadside companion it may be but race situations still demand Co2 cartridges for any chance of a good placing. That said giving change from £20 it’s certainly a contender for anyone needing form and function in a mini pump.
