At road.cc every product is thoroughly tested for as long as it takes to get a proper insight into how well it works. Our reviewers are experienced cyclists that we trust to be objective. While we strive to ensure that opinions expressed are backed up by facts, reviews are by their nature an informed opinion, not a definitive verdict. We don't intentionally try to break anything (except locks) but we do try to look for weak points in any design. The overall score is not just an average of the other scores: it reflects both a product's function and value – with value determined by how a product compares with items of similar spec, quality, and price.

Surface's stripy Crew Socks socks are colourful and comfortable city cycling socks. There are many sports specific socks on the market and you might wonder if you really need special socks for city cycling. The answer is yes, from wearing these socks.

Surface is the clothing brand from Charge bikes, but no kitchen product names this time.

The Surface Crew Socks are soft, comfortable and foot shaped in the right places for cycling. There are six colours available from a vibrant red and blue or orange and brown to more demure shades of grey.

Feet can take a lot of abuse when cycling. These don't shift about, protect your heel and keep your toes warm too.

They wash well and kept their bright colours too. They are not socks for inside your sidis on a 90 mile sportive, but they're not designed for that, nor are they fancy merino, but then they cost less than merino, a perfect stocking filler present.

Verdict

Comfortable, colourful socks for cruising to work and home again.

£10?

I buy socks from Morrisons, three pairs for about a fiver. I have used them for walking and cycling. They look just like the black socks Wiggo uses. 3

I have a pair of these, they are an unusually tight fit i find but very nice, i wore them on a training ride last night with my endura overshoes and they kept my feet just right
