Has it really been ten years? British bike brand Pinnacle Bikes is this year celebrating its 10th anniversary, and marking the occasion with three limited edition bikes.
Pinnacle Bikes is the in-house brand of retailer Evans Cycles and its range of bikes, from road to commuting and mountain bikes, have been a hit with consumers over the years. On the money and on the ball in terms of performance. We’ve reviewed many of its bikes over the years and consistently been impressed, whether it’s the Dolomite road bike, Lithium commuter or Arkose adventure bike.
The three celebration bikes - Arkose, Lithium and Arkose - are limited edition and built with one-off specifications intended to flatter their best attributes.
“The Pinnacle 10th Year Limited Edition models take proven formulas and pump up their volumes - more of what makes them work, more creative details and unique values,” explains the company.
The Arkose 10th Year Limited Edition combines an aluminium frame and carbon fork with space for 45mm wide WTB Riddler tan wall tyres and a Shimano XT Di2 1x11 mountain bike groupset and Tektro Hylex hydraulic brakes.
We reviewed the Arkose back in 2016 and said: “It's a good choice for an all-around, general purpose bike that is competent on the smooth and capable in the rough.” You can read that full review here.
The Arkose and Dolomite models were updated for 2017. The Dolomite range features disc brakes at a choice of prices with mudguard mounts and clearance for wider tyres. The Arkose has moved on from it original cyclocross origins to a bike much better suited to the growing adventure category.
“The BB sits lower, the wheelbase is a tad longer and it’s got space for bigger tyres. The frame fit has a little more stack and works well with shorter rather than longer stems. It’s still a great bike on tarmac but it’s now a better bike off-road or over long mixed-terrain days,” says Pinnacle.
The Dolomite 10th Year Limited Edition gets some interesting details, such as custom mudguards and internally wired front and rear dynamo lights for all-weather all-conditions cycling. It’s a bike ready for commuting and long winter training rides, but with rack mounts it could also be used for a multi-day touring trip.
Designed specifically for commuting and city riding, the Lithium 10th Year Limited Edition bike has been treated to a 3M reflective paint to help you stand out on the city streets. A dynamo hub provides permanent front lighting with a beam pattern that won’t dazzle other road users. A front rack is a useful place to stash a bag of clothing or food.
