Specialized make limited edition Deceuninck–Quick-Step Tarmac Disc frameset

To celebrate a stellar year for the team including a whole two weeks in yellow for Julian Alaphilippe, Specialized have produced just 200 Quick-Step edition Tarmac framesets, with 199 of them available to buy globally

Deceuninck–Quick-Step have chalked up a grand total of 66 victories in 2019 - and to celebrate their stellar year, the team's bike sponsor Specialized have made a special Tarmac Disc frameset that tells the story of the victories with its detailed paint job.

Each win is etched somewhere on the frame, with highlights being Philippe Gilbert's victory at Paris-Roubaix and Alaphilippe's Tour de France time trial triumph on stage 13 against the odds, not to mention the latter's 14 days in the yellow jersey.

Quick-Step actually claim their year has been "one of the most incredible seasons any team has had in the history of the sport"; make of that what you will, but Specialized certainly thought it was worthy of a special edition frame to celebrate the team ranked number 1 by the UCI after an 11 year partnership.

Based on the Quick-Step's 2019 colourways, the first edition frameset was presented to the team at the Giro d’Lombardia last weekend and will hang in Deceuninck–Quick-Step’s Belgian Service Course.

Only 200 of the framesets will be made, and the other 199 will be available to buy globally through Specialized retailers priced at $5,500. Pre-orders will be taken from the 17th October at 5pm UK time, and you can sign up for more info if you have some cash to burn on the Specialized website here

Arriving at road.cc in 2017 via 220 Triathlon Magazine, Jack dipped his toe in most jobs on the site and over at eBikeTips before being named the new editor of road.cc in 2020, much to his surprise. His cycling life began during his students days, when he cobbled together a few hundred quid off the back of a hard winter selling hats (long story) and bought his first road bike - a Trek 1.1 that was quickly relegated to winter steed, before it was sadly pinched a few years later. Creatively replacing it with a Trek 1.2, Jack mostly rides this bike around local cycle paths nowadays, but when he wants to get the racer out and be competitive his preferred events are time trials, sportives, triathlons and pogo sticking - the latter being another long story.

That's a special frameset, loving the wins painted on it, good idea. Hope to see other teams/framesets do similar.. although to be fair there won't be many to compete with the Palmares of DQS over the past couple of years.

(Suprised Pinerello haven't already done something similar for their TdF victories)
