Peter Sagan rides a no-hands wheelie up a section of the Angliru, which has an average grade of 10.2% over 12km

Roundabout would be the last place you'd peel off, you'd do it either before or after. Whether because of bad signage, DS not reminding him to go left, whatever, Wagner screwed up. The fact Bennati was put off by his move suggests his part of the leadout wasn't over yet.

If the road had been barriered, Wagner would have clearly gone the right way. Because it wasn't, I tend to agree with Gkam's thought that it must have been the deviation for the team cars etc - although putting it at a roundabout 300m from the line with riders going flat out is asking for trouble.

Very lucky there wasn't a serious crash, Sagan in particular did a fantastic recovery (though it cost him the chance of the stage win and green jersey). As we can see from the pic, his bike handling skills are pretty nifty 16

I think that was him peeling off rather than turning right, Sagan decided to do straight on'ish i dont know what he was playing at, looked like an endo to go with the wheelie, lol

But yeah it should have been barriered off, but i think thats where they were sending the team cars, so couldn't really do anything and there was a marshal with his whistle and lollipop

I think the roundabout had been badly barriered (they shouldn't have been able to turn right at all), but it was fairly clear both in the course notes and the way it was laid out that you had to go left. Bennati's lead-out man started it, if he hadn't gone right no-one would have.

Absolutely, that was shocking organisation from the Vuelta, the right turn went into no where, genius!

To be fair, the sprinters teams at least known should have known there was a dodgy last roundabout from their people that walk the last 3 to 4 k of the race, or is that just HTC that have that kind of planning.
