Video: New trailer released for Lance Armstrong film, The Program

A new trailer has been released for The Program, the film about Lance Armstrong that hits UK cinemas next month.

Starring Ben Foster as the disgraced cyclist, it's based on Sunday Times journalist David Walsh's book, Seven Deadly Sins.

The movie is directed by Stephen Frears, who ahead of its premiere at the Tornonto International Film Festival at the weekend said he was attracted to the subject because he wanted to make a crime film, not a biopic.

Produced by Working Title, it will play in UK cinemas from 16 October.

Simon joined road.cc as news editor in 2009 and is now the site’s community editor, acting as a link between the team producing the content and our readers. A law and languages graduate, published translator and former retail analyst, he has reported on issues as diverse as cycling-related court cases, anti-doping investigations, the latest developments in the bike industry and the sport’s biggest races. Now back in London full-time after 15 years living in Oxford and Cambridge, he loves cycling along the Thames but misses having his former riding buddy, Elodie the miniature schnauzer, in the basket in front of him.

At what point am I going to lose interest in Armstrong? The guy is a cheat and I shouldn't even give him the time of day but the whole thing just fascinates me.

Super exciting trailer - can't wait to watch the film and find out whether he did it or not!

[One day I will be able to see Chris O'Dowd in a film without a turn it off and on again line forming in my head, but I feel on that day I will have lost something very special]

Love the casting, apart from Chris O'Dowd (but I'll keep an open mind there). Foster has really captured LA and I thought for a second it was the real Floyd!

Hopefully get to see this. At least in Stoke where I'm from we have a Film Theatre that shows small/indie type films so even when this doesn't go on general release I should at least get to see it on a big screen.

Did someone involved in this put their money in the "Floyd Is Innocent" pot? This clip certainly seems to give the impression of a poor, hard done to FL.

We'll have to wait and see.

Robin Williams had obviously never tried paragliding.

Floyd looks a bit creepy/psychotic here. Which may actually be a rather brilliant and accurate portrayal.

I like the 'Social Network' style title they finally settled on. And most Merkins haven't seen the IT Crowd.

anyone else find it completely impossible to take Chris O'dowd seriously?

I'm with you on that. Every time I hear him I think of him eating a bucket of chicken in the IT department!
